Production process of stainless steel elbow

The production process of stainless steel elbows mainly includes the following common methods: hot pushing, stamping, cold extrusion, and forging. Different processes are suitable for different production needs and product specifications.


Hot push technology

Hot pressing technology is currently one of the most commonly used methods for forming stainless steel elbows. The basic process is as follows:

Raw material preparation: Select suitable stainless steel pipe blanks.

Heating: Heat the tube blank to a certain temperature (such as austenitic stainless steel at about 1050 ℃ -1150 ℃) to achieve plastic deformation.

Pushing: Using a pushing machine to push the heated tube blank into the mold, bending and expanding are completed under the control of the core mold.

Cooling and shaping: The formed elbow is cooled by a cooling device and then shaped to ensure dimensional accuracy.

The advantages of hot pressing technology include uniform wall thickness, good appearance quality, high production efficiency, and suitability for large-scale production.


Stamping process

The stamping process is divided into cold stamping and hot stamping:

Cold stamping: Place the stainless steel tube blank into the mold at room temperature and apply pressure through a press to shape it.

Hot stamping: Heat the tube blank to a certain temperature before stamping.

Stamping technology is suitable for small batch production, especially for elbows with thick or thin wall thickness. Its advantage is lower cost, but the appearance quality may not be as good as hot pressing technology.


Cold extrusion process

The cold extrusion process is to place the tube blank into the outer mold and push it along the gap between the inner and outer molds through a push rod to complete the molding. The advantages of this process are its beautiful appearance, uniform wall thickness, and small dimensional deviation, making it particularly suitable for the production of thin-walled stainless steel elbows.


Forging process

The forging process involves repeatedly hammering or extruding stainless steel billets using forging equipment to gradually shape them into bends. Forged elbows have a dense structure and excellent mechanical properties, and are commonly used in applications that require high strength and reliability.


Other processes

In addition to the common processes mentioned above, there are also some special forming methods, such as hydraulic bulging, spinning forming, etc. These processes each have their own advantages and disadvantages, and are suitable for specific production scenarios.

Subsequent processing

Regardless of the molding process used, stainless steel elbows usually require the following treatments after molding:

Acid washing: Remove surface oxide scale and impurities to improve corrosion resistance.

Polishing: Using mechanical or chemical methods to make the surface shiny and smooth.

Heat treatment: such as annealing, to improve the mechanical and processing properties of materials.
